While padding her beat, Ceiba met up with Puppyhurst resident, Trixie, age 11. A Pekinese-Poodle mix, Trixie came to North Seattle from New Mexico about two years ago. The adjustment was fairly easy, except for getting used to all the rain, but she’s finally gotten to like being toweled off by her hoomans after she’s been walking in the wet grass. And the benefits are pretty great: a lover of salmon treats, she has been happy to trade a dry undercarriage for local salmon, fresh salmon being a rarity in New Mexico. And now, the weather here is no big thing. Especially now that Trixie is in semi-retirement, she’s not bothered by much. She feels that she’s allowed to kick back, relax, and hang out with mom and munch on well deserved snacks.
Trixie has a new pupperbrother, a 10 week old Golden-doodle. And like having a new environment, this is taking a bit of getting used to. But she likes him okay, and feels that she is in a good place to show him the ropes.
“I didn’t know what to think at first, but since he’s very cute, and he’s pretty smart, I think that once he has his final shots, he’ll be pretty fun to walk in the neighborhood with. As long as he knows, I’m the boss. And he doesn’t get into my salmon treats!” woofled Trixie with a smile.
